Last minute questions? As we head into Labor Day weekend, parents and caregivers of incoming 9th graders may be thinking of last minute questions. We’ve got you covered.
What happens on the first day of school for 9th graders?
The 9th graders usually have an introductory meeting for the whole grade, advisory meetings and go to initial class meetings.
What should the students bring to school on the first day?
Water and lunch (if not eating at the cafeteria). Teachers will let the students know about the supplies they will need – so no need to load up on too many binders, notebooks and pencils yet 😉 The school will also send out a survey to sign up for Chromebooks if needed.
How does drop-off and pickup work?
First class period starts at 8:20am, and students can be dropped off in front of 22 Tappan (or in any of the green zones on this map). Last class typically ends at 2:55pm, but traffic is prohibited in front of 115 Greenough Street until 4pm, so the only access to 22 Tappan before that is via Sumner Road. Alternatively, students can be picked up behind 22 Tappan on Brington Road.
How will my student get their BHS ID badge so they have access to the high school when school starts?
There will be a photographer the first week of school Thursday who will be able to take pictures for badges for the incoming 9th graders. The building will be accessible for the 9th graders until they receive their badges.
Who are the school nurses? How do I reach them?
BHS has nurses at the Greenough and Tappan sites. Their names and contact information can be found here on the PSB Nurse Contact Info page.
Who do I communicate with about absences, or if my child will be late or leaving early?
