Our Mission

The mission of the Brookline High School Parent Teacher Organization (BHS PTO) is to enhance or extend the academic and social experience of Brookline High School students by working in partnership with educators, administrators, and families.

The PTO is committed to strengthening connections within our broad and diverse BHS community.

The PTO raises funds and then distributes them to support curriculum extension, cultural and social enrichment programs, and supplies or materials for which other funding is not available.

PTO funds are distributed in several ways:
  • Annual line-item allocations in established areas.
  • A competitive annual grant program, open to all BHS faculty, staff, and administrators, held in the spring for the following school year.
  • A mini-grant program to address unanticipated needs that emerge during the school year.
  • A summer wish list, allowing families to directly purchase items requested by staff.

Our Impact

The PTO impacts every single student at BHS by funding and facilitating:

  • Educator grants that support student experiences and provide materials that enrich learning.
  • Popular student events that help create lasting memories, such as Junior Semi and the After the Prom Party.
  • Activities during Black History Month, Japanese Culture events, ExCEL English program, and other events that highlight the diversity of our school and engage students and the broader Brookline community.
  • Appreciation events for staff and faculty.
  • The weekly PTO newsletter and class emails that make sure you are informed about events and meetings important to your child’s education.
