Navigating college mental health: a conversation with Dr. Mathilde Ross

Please join us on Tuesday, May 12, at 7 p.m. at 22 Tappan for a conversation with Dr. Mathilde Ross, MD — BHS parent and senior staff psychiatrist at Boston University Student Health Services, where she has worked for nearly 20 years.

Dr. Ross will speak to BHS parents about the transition to college: health insurance for college students, common mental health scenarios on campus and whatever else is on your minds. Her essays on mental health and parenting have been published in The New York Times and The Boston Globe, and her first book, How to Thrive at College: A Guide to the Ups and Downs of Mental Health on Campus (Diversion Books, 2026), is out this spring.

The book draws on her two decades working with college students to demystify mental health, discuss risk factors and offer practical strategies for both students and parents navigating this transition. One message she returns to again and again: most teenagers are doing just fine — and the relationship between parents and their kids matters more than almost anything else.

We look forward to seeing you there.
