Sometimes the most important lessons happen outside the classroom.
With support from a PTO grant, Kathleen Lowe and her students in the Special Education Department’s Transition Seminar are learning life skills that build confidence and independence. This year, they’ve used the MBTA to travel to Time Out Market and MassArt—gaining hands-on experience in budgeting, communication, and navigating the city on their own.
“Without this grant, these students would not have the opportunity to develop these essential skills by actively engaging with the greater Brookline and Boston community,” Kathleen said.
These real-world lessons are made possible through your generosity. Together, we’re helping students explore their community—and their own independence.
