Workshop Your College Essay: From Brainstorm to Polish

Writing the college essay can be one of the most stressful parts of the college application process, but it doesn’t have to be. The BHS PTO is here to help!

Join us for a College Essay Workshop designed to help seniors wherever they are in the writing process. Whether you’re staring at a blank page or refining your final draft, this workshop offers the support you need to make your essay stand out.

For Seniors

This free, in-person workshop is a great opportunity to jump-start or refine your essay. You’ll work in small groups and one-on-one with BHS teachers, parent volunteers, and your peers. This is your chance to get fresh ideas, constructive feedback, and the encouragement you need to make your voice shine.

Past participants have said the workshop boosted their confidence, helped them find stronger topics, and significantly reduced their stress. You can choose a writing stage that best fits where you are in the process, ensuring you get targeted support.

Details for Seniors:

Date: Saturday, September 27, 2025
Time: 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM (Check-in starts at 8:45 AM)
Location: Brookline High School, 115 Greenough Street
What to bring: If you have a draft, please bring four copies.

For Parents & Guardians

We’re also looking for parent and guardian volunteers to help make this event a success. You can sign up to work as an essay advisor, providing support and feedback to small groups and individual students. Don’t worry, you don’t need any special experience—just bring your energy and enthusiasm!

We also need volunteers to help with event logistics. Volunteers will arrive at 8:15 AM for a brief orientation, along with coffee and breakfast.

How to Register

This workshop is open to all BHS seniors, but registration is highly encouraged so we can best place volunteers and teachers.

Walk-ins are welcome, but securing your spot in advance helps everything run smoothly.

Register online here

Online registration closes on Friday, September 26.

This event is made possible by the Brookline High School PTO with invaluable support from BHS teachers, parents, and the community.
